Louisiana College: high hopes going into 2nd football season

PINEVILLE, La. (BP)–Louisiana College head football coach Marty Secord called it a vacation, a 32-year vacation during which the Wildcat football program was dormant. And last year, one thing Secord discovered while heading up Louisiana’s first football team since 1968 was that it’s tough to come back from a holiday.

“Our coaching staff came in and put the program together from ground zero,” said Secord, who previously served as the defensive coordinator for McMurry University. “It was kind of a miracle just to get started. [Recruiting] was difficult in a sense but the Lord really led us to the kids who were supposed to be at this school.

“The selling point for our program was selling the vision — to come to a place like this, start something and make your own history.”
