Missionary Allen Barnes dies Aug. 7 in California

DURHAM, Calif. (BP)–Allen E. Barnes, a Southern Baptist missionary to Southeast Asia, died Aug. 7 of an apparent aortic aneurysm while vacationing with his family in California.
Barnes, 65, and his wife, the former Loyce Williams of Greens Gap, N.M., were in their eighth year of service with the International Mission Board. Barnes served as the pastor of an English-language church in Southeast Asia.
Born in Hartshorne, Okla., Barnes served as pastor of three churches in California and as director of missions for Costa-Meda Baptist Association in Martinez, Calif., prior to missionary service.
He was a graduate of California Baptist College in Riverside and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, Mill Valley, Calif.
Besides his wife, Barnes is survived by one son, Lawson Barnes of Oakland, Calif., and five daughters, Jocelyn Brian of Durham, Calif.; Patti Blevins of Chula Vista, Calif.; Kelly Chaffin of Lincoln, Calif.; Barbette Hayball of Foresthill, Calif.; and Linda Moore of Tucson, Ariz.
