JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (BP)–A special meeting of the Missouri Baptist Convention executive board has been called to hear and vote on a recommendation from its executive director search committee.

The meeting will be Tuesday, Aug. 27, in the Missouri Baptist Convention Building in Jefferson City.

The committee has reported that it has a unanimous recommendation after more than seven months of prayer, searching and investigation of several potential candidates for the position.

The candidate’s name will be revealed to the members of the executive board through an information packet to be mailed Aug. 20. The identity of the candidate will not be publicly announced until the day of the called meeting.

The executive board meeting will begin with an introduction and brief remarks from the individual being considered. The vote will take place after a question-and-answer session in the afternoon.

Search committee chairman Kenny Qualls was quoted in a news release as saying, “I have complete peace that this candidate is God’s choice for this position. God has moved in the hearts and minds of committee members and shown us his will for Missouri Baptists.”

Qualls, senior pastor of Springhill Baptist Church in Springfield, requested that Missouri Baptists continue to include the search committee, the potential MBC executive director and members of the executive board in prayer.

Committee member David Tolliver, pastor of Pisgah Baptist Church, Excelsior Springs, stated in the news release, “I am excited about the future of our state convention, and I am convinced that the executive board will share in our excitement once they meet the man.”
