[1]NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–Downhere’s new self-titled album truly aces the test. The boys from Canada have put together a great CD, their first released to the United States, filled with great music and compelling lyrics.
The album itself is put together wonderfully, which makes it flow very nicely. Because of this, it grabs your attention quickly and keeps it to the last note of the last song.
What makes this album work is the variety of music they play. Downhere has a varied style that ranges from the calm and quiet chords of the piano to the upbeat and energetic sounds of the electric guitar.
What impressed me most with this group however, is the spiritual quality of their lyrics. Just by listening to their songs you can find evidence of their relationship with Christ and their Christian maturity.
In fact, each song is based off of verses or chapters of Scripture.
The song “Calmer of the Storm” states: “There on the storm I am learning to let go of the will that I so long to control. There may I be in you arms eternally. I thank you Lord. You are the calmer of the storm.”
[2]They also add a touch of humor in their secret track, titled, “Rock Stars Need Money.” This album is perfect to listen to in your car on the way to work, relaxing at the pool, or even during your quiet time.
It seems less like Downhere’s first United States release and more like their greatest hits CD. It is definitely worth a listen.
