N.C., Ga., top states for SBC messengers in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. (BP)–North Carolina Baptists sent the largest number of messengers, 2,801, of the 11,639 who registered for the June 13-14 Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting in Greensboro, N.C.

Other leading states were Georgia with 1,075 messengers; South Carolina with 951 messengers; Virginia with 939 messengers; and Tennessee with 876 messengers, according to official statistics released by SBC Registration Secretary Jim Wells June 29.

The number of messengers registering online was 8,883, with 7,621 of those registrants present in Greensboro.

Messengers were sent by 4,577 churches from 48 states in addition to the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
