NAIA football fever: Campbellsville to face St. Francis

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. (BP)–Coach Ron Finley’s Campbellsville University Fighting Tiger Football team used a 49-7 victory over Union College and a 9-2 regular season finish to secure a high national ranking and a spot in the NAIA 2001 National Championship Football Series.

The Fighting Tigers moved from 18th to 15th in the NAIA polls after the big victory over Union and will now face the powerful University of St. Francis Cougars in the first round of the NAIA playoffs.

The Cougars of St. Francis are from Fort Wayne, Indiana and boast a 9-1 record on the season after defeating Walsh University 30-12 this past week. St. Francis shared the Mid-States Football Association/Mideast League title with Walsh and Tri-State University after the teams finished league play with 5-1 records.
