NAMB, IMB, Fla. offer Haiti resources

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (BP)–To facilitate prayer and financial giving for Haiti relief by Southern Baptists, the International Mission Board, North American Mission Board and Florida Baptist Convention have created bulletin inserts and videos for use in local churches.

The bulletin inserts, by IMB and NAMB, will be updated regularly for church use on Sundays.

The IMB bulletin insert is available at http://media1.imbresources.org/files/105/10529/10529-56126.pdf.

A downloadable video featuring IMB prayer director Ed Cox, who reminds Southern Baptists that the most important thing they can do for Haiti is to pray, can be accessed at www.imb.org/main//downloads/embedvideos.asp?flashvars=mvid=10528&mvidext=flv. Prayer requests from Cox’s video and additional resources also are available in a downloadable prayer handout at http://media1.imbresources.org/files/105/10535/10535-56151.pdf.

To download NAMB’s church bulletin insert, go to www.namb.net/drbulletin. The bulletin speaks of ways that Southern Baptists can demonstration “faith,” “hope” and “love” toward “countless Haitians … suffering from lack of food and water. Thousands of wounded need medical care. Hundreds of thousands are living in makeshift shelters on hillsides.”

For Florida Baptists, the state convention has produced two videos to seek support for relief efforts in the aftermath of the Jan. 12 earthquake.

“Pray for Haiti” is a 70-second video of how Florida Baptists can pray for and aid the stricken nation and the nearly 900 Baptist churches planted during a 15-year Florida-Haiti partnership. The video also readies the state’s Baptists to be prepared to go when the “doors are open.”

“Partner with us to help Haiti” is a two-minute, 40-second video that features John Sullivan, executive director-treasurer of the Florida convention, briefly describing the convention’s 15-year ministry alongside Haitian Baptists.

Both videos are available for viewing and downloading from the websites of the Florida Baptist Convention (www.flbaptist.org) and the Florida Baptist Witness (www.gofbw.com).
