RICHMOND, Va. (BP)–A music video titled “Go and Tell” from Jeni Varnadeau, a young Christian singer/songwriter with a heart for missions, is part of this year’s resources for the International Missions Emphasis and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.
Varnadeau’s faith was galvanized in 2001 by the sudden death of her sister, who was serving as a Southern Baptist representative in northern Africa.
“My sister not only introduced me to the Lord, but she was a tremendous inspiration in all areas of my life,” she says. “Many of my passions — spending time with God, building my faith, missions and a heart for the world — were encouraged by her.”
Varnadeau has compiled an impressive list of accomplishments for a young performer: six Top 10 radio hits, two movie soundtracks, two No. 1 videos, four albums and extensive tours in both the United States and Europe.
But her treasure is in God’s Kingdom.
“When people listen to a singer/songwriter — in person or on a record — they want to take something with them,” she says. “With every song I sing or write, I hope the listener is somehow pointed to Jesus and His Word, the Bible.
“Go and Tell was written as a prayer to God. As I look around the world and see His creation, and I read the Bible and understand His power, I just have to go and tell the world about Him!”
Varnadeau also is featured in a segment of the “Kids On Mission” video produced by the International Mission Board. In addition to her new song, she shares about her ministry with older girls, called ChikChat.
