[1]Triggs to be nominated for Pastors’ Conference vice president
NEW ORLEANS (BP) – Cameron “Cam” Triggs, lead pastor of Grace Alive Church in Orlando, will be nominated for vice president of the 2022 SBC Pastors’ Conference. Fred “Chip” Luter III, senior associate pastor of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans, has announced his intention to make the nomination.
Voting for the 2022 Pastors’ Conference will take place Monday afternoon, June 14, during the Pastors Track of the Send Conference hosted by the North American Mission Board and International Mission Board. Held at the Music City Center in Nashville, it precedes the Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting, which will begin the next day.
Luter described Triggs as “a bridge-builder who has a way of connecting people from a wide variety of backgrounds, regardless of location. We need more of that in the SBC because relationships and partnerships for the sake of the Great Commission is the bread and butter of the SBC.”
Triggs also is the founder and president of Apollos Institute and was a church planting resident at The Summit Church in Durham, N.C., after serving as the pastor of youth and young adults at Shiloh Church in Jacksonville, Fla. He’s also a regular contributor to The Gospel Coalition, Desiring God, For The Church and other blogs.
According to the Annual Church Profile, Grace Alive was organized in 2017 and recorded 59 members in 2018, increasing to 72 members in 2019 and 95 last year. In 2019 the church contributed $6,500, or 1.6 percent, of undesignated receipts through the Cooperative Program. In 2020, Grace more than doubled its giving through CP to $14,300, or 4 percent of its budget.
[2]Triggs is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and holds a master’s in theological studies from Reformed Theological Seminary. He is currently earning his Doctor of Educational Ministry degree at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife Tymara have a 6-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter.
Chayasirisobhon to be nominated for Pastors’ Conference vice president
HIGHLAND, Calif. (BP) – Victor Chayasirisobhon, lead pastor at First Southern Baptist Church in Anaheim, Calif., will be nominated for vice president of the 2022 SBC Pastors’ Conference by Rob Zinn, pastor of education and North American missions at Immanuel Baptist Church in Highland, Calif.
Voting for the 2022 Pastors’ Conference will take place Monday afternoon, June 14, during the Pastors Track of the Send Conference hosted by the North American Mission Board and International Mission Board. Held at the Music City Center in Nashville, it precedes the Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting, which will begin the next day. The 2022 Pastors’ Conference will be held in conjunction with the SBC Annual Meeting in Anaheim, Calif.
A native of Montreal, Chayasirisobhon has served as pastor at First Southern Baptist for the last 15 years. In addition, he has been moderator and vice moderator of the Orange County Southern Baptist Association and currently is president of the Orange County Baptist Foundation and executive board member of the California Southern Baptist Convention. He is also a leader in the California chapter of the Conservative Baptist Network.
According to the ACP, the church reported 617 members in 2019. Chayasirisobhon confirmed with BP that First Southern grew to 621 members in 2020. In 2019 the church gave $900, or .5 percent, through the Cooperative Program. While the amount remained the same in 2020, the portion given through CP increased to 1.2 percent of undesignated receipts.
Chayasirisobhon earned Master of Theology and Doctor of Theology degrees from Southwest Bible College and Seminary. He also earned Master of Divinity, Master of Educational Leadership and Master of Missiology degrees from Golden Gate Theological Seminary (now Gateway Seminary) as well as a master’s in intercultural studies and Doctor of Ministry from Gateway. He is currently pursuing a master’s in Christian counseling.
Chayasirisobhon and his wife Theresa have four children ages 12, 11, 8 and 3.
