Registration opens for SBC Day Camp

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (BP)–Children attending the Southern Baptist Convention Day Camp in Orlando, Fla., June 13-14 will explore the theme “Kidz 2000 – Celebrate” through a combination of field trips, missionary testimonies, games, Bible studies and other activities.

The camp is held each year during the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting for children who will have completed grades one through six by June. It is contracted through the mission education team of the North American Mission Board. The director is Duane Ortego, a childhood education consultant and former missionary to South Korea.

The day camp schedule is Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Wednesday, 8 a.m. to noon. Parents will be required to sign a medical release for their children.

Registration begins immediately, and will be offered to the first 200 children on a first-come, first-served basis through June 1. The cost is $75 per child, which includes a T-shirt, snacks, the noon meal on Tuesday and field trips. Volunteers staff the day camp, and anyone who is interested in volunteering should also contact Ortego.

Day campers should dress comfortably and are required to wear a day camp wristband and T-shirt, soft-soled recreation shoes and socks.
