Resort ministry award presented to director of Branson, ministry

BRANSON, Mo. (BP)–Nadeine Gold, resort ministry coordinator for Mountain Country Ministries in Branson, Mo., recently received the North American Mission Board’s Ken Prickett Award for her work among tourists in the Branson area.

The award is given annually to the person whose creativity and innovation in ministry exemplifies the spirit of Ken Pricket — who served as a Home Mission Board missionary in special ministries from 1970-83

Gold, the daughter of a pastor, worked with youth more than 20 years as a volunteer in her church before joining the staff of the Tri-County Baptist Association in 1992 — first as a ministry associate and then in her current position. The resort missions program has grown steadily over the past few years in its task of reaching out to tourists, using four to six summer missionaries and as many as 1,200 volunteers each summer.

In 1999, Mountain Country Ministries began work in the Lake Country Boys & Girls Club, ministering to more than 360 children through the summer, often averaging more than 200 each day. During the summer of 1999, 5,000 people were contacted with the gospel through the ministry, and 184 people made professions of faith in Christ.

The award was presented March 3 by Jeff Wagner, manager of special ministries evangelism for NAMB, at the Midwest Regional Resort/Leisure Ministries Conference in Branson.
