Richard Nations adds Iowa duties as paper’s publications editor


DES MOINES, Iowa (BP)–Richard Nations has been selected as the publications editor of the Iowa Baptist, the newspaper of the Baptist Convention of Iowa. The announcement was made after a meeting of the BCI executive board May 19 in Des Moines.

Nations will continue to serve as the convention’s church development team leader, a post he has held the past seven years.

Jimmy Barrentine, BCI executive director-treasurer, will serve as the managing editor for the paper, relating to the business side of the publication.

Nations, a Missouri native, is a 1984 graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. His undergraduate work was completed at Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, Mo., in 1980 and Hannibal-LaGrange College in 1978. He and his wife, Rachel, have two children, Philip, 14, and Beth, 10. The Nationses live in Windsor Heights, Iowa. Previously Nations served churches as pastor in Illinois, Iowa and Missouri.

The Iowa Baptist is a monthly publication and is published in partnership with the Kentucky Baptist Western Recorder as a partnership edition paper. Joyce Martin serves as the partnership editor for the IB as well as several other papers in new work areas of the Southern Baptist Convention.
