SBC annual meeting to be on Internet from St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (BP)–The Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting will be joined this year by the Pastors’ Conference in being broadcast live on the Internet from St. Louis.

The SBC, via free downloadable Media Windows Player software, will be broadcast via live video stream on the annual meeting’s website at www.sbcannualmeeting.net, said Chris Chapman, director of Internet services for the SBC Executive Committee.

The SBC annual meeting, which will be broadcast for the fourth consecutive year, will be June 11-12, preceded by the Pastors’ Conference, June 9-10.

Among the highlights:

— the International Mission Board report at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday; North American Mission Board, 2:55 p.m. Tuesday; LifeWay Christian Resources, 7:25 p.m. Tuesday; Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, 4:55 p.m. Wednesday; Annuity Board, 10:35 a.m. Wednesday; Executive Committee, 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tuesday; the six SBC seminaries, 3:50 p.m. Tuesday; and Woman’s Missionary Union, 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.

The full SBC annual meeting program and times and other SBC-related events are posted on the www.sbcannualmeeting.net website and will be accessible when the video from the SBC meeting is streaming via Windows Media Player.

Chapman noted that churches with websites can provide a direct link to the SBC proceedings through www.sbcannualmeeting.net. “In recent years some churches have set up a room in their church for viewing the webcast on a large projection screen or a large television monitor for members without Internet access,” Chapman noted.

Also to be available at www.sbcannualmeeting.net are replays of the current year’s proceedings, news stories and resolutions.
