SBC childcare registration opens for family rally, annual meeting

[1]

PHOENIX (BP)–Families wishing to enroll their children in childcare services at the Southern Baptist Convention June 15-18 in Phoenix may now register on a first-come, first-served basis.

Childcare services for infants through kindergarten will complement the SBC’s first-ever Kingdom Family Rally on Monday evening, June 16, and will continue to be available during the Tuesday and Wednesday sessions of the SBC annual meeting.

Childcare also will be open for the Sunday and Monday sessions of the Pastors’ Conference and Woman’s Missionary Union annual meeting.

The Kingdom Family Rally will feature such family advocates as Dennis and Barbara Rainey of Family Life Today, singer Steve Green and his wife, Maryjean, and Tom Elliff, chair of the SBC Council on Family Life, and his wife, Jeannie.

The rally also will include testimonies from various SBC leaders and Baptist families; conference leader and author Gary Chapman; and video segments from James and Shirley Dobson of Focus on the Family and Bible teacher and author Beth Moore. The rally will be part of the Pastors’ Conference, which will be devoted in its entirety to the family. The conference is open to church staff members’ families as well as laypeople interested in bolstering marriage in America.

“At this year’s convention, we’re not simply having a rally about the family, but the whole event is designed with the family in mind,” said Elliff, a former SBC president and pastor of the Oklahoma City-area First Southern Baptist Church in Del City.

“There has never been a convention when it has been easier to bring an entire family — and have them involved in the whole convention.”

A $10 one-time nonrefundable registration fee is charged for each child. For each session, a $5 per child fee is charged, with a maximum charge of $40 per family for the full four days of childcare. Lunch also will be available for the children on Monday and Tuesday for a cost of $5 per lunch. Complete payment is due for all sessions and for lunch, if selected, upon arrival for the first session.

Registration information may be obtained by e-mailing [email protected], including the sender’s name and address; by phone, at (636) 227-7850; by downloading a set of forms for each child at www.sbcannualmeeting.org [3]; or by writing to SBC Childcare, Sandy Osborne, Ballwin Baptist Church, 15101 Manchester Road, Ballwin, MO 63011.

To assure a place in the on-site convention childcare center, applications and fees must be submitted promptly as the openings fill quickly. Once the completed form and registration fee for each child is received, a family ID number will be assigned and a confirmation packet consisting of a family confirmation card, parent handbook, security information and procedures for check-in and check-out will be sent.

The postmark deadline for childcare registration is May 30. Parents desiring to register their children after May 30 may print the required information and bring it to the conference, where they will be registered on-site on a space-available basis.
