[1]Frank Ingraham, influential Southern Baptist layman, dies

NASHVILLE (BP) – Frank Ingraham, a longtime advocate for Southern Baptist ministries and causes, died March 20. Ingraham was 93.
Ingraham practiced law for 60 years from 1954 until 2014. He argued a 1986 case [2] on behalf of the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home that preserved the organization’s right to privacy in filing its 990 Form with the Internal Revenue Service. The ruling protected not only the children’s home but all religious organizations from having to disclose the identities of individual donors.
He also served on the SBC Executive Committee, leading the Committee on Convention Finances and Business in the early ‘80s.
Ingraham was a Sunday school teacher for more than 60 years, according to a family obituary. He first served at Belmont Heights Baptist Church, where he grew up, and at First Baptist Franklin, Tenn., now Church of the City. He was also a deacon at both churches and was elected to serve as one of the first elders of Church of the City.
[3]He retired as a captain in the U.S. Air Force and served as executive officer/staff judge advocate (JAG) and legal adviser to a base commander.
Ingraham is survived by two daughters, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
BGCT director search committee reopens nominations

DALLAS (BP) – The search committee seeking the next executive director of the Baptist General Convention of Texas has reopened nominations for the position.
The new window of opportunity to make nominations will be open through May 7.
“It has been a true delight to experience the Spirit-led cohesion among every search committee member. Each shares the common goal of following the Lord’s leadership,” said Wendell Wright, search committee chair.
“In light of recent committee changes and following careful consideration, the committee has felt led to reopen the nomination process. Our desire is to ensure ample opportunity for candidates to be nominated.”
Wright went on to acknowledge candidates already nominated for the position.
“We are thrilled by the current list of candidates and their exceptional Christian leadership. In no way does this decision reflect negatively on their strength but affirms our commitment to prayerfully follow God’s leadership in this extraordinary effort. I am confident we are doing just that,” he said.
In its most recent update [4] published to the search committee page of the Texas Baptists website, the search committee stated it is again accepting nominations and applications “in order to give ample opportunity for the Texas Baptists family to have input into the Executive Director search process.” Nominations previously were accepted Jan. 10-31.
The update instructs nominators to submit their nominations by clicking the “Nominate” button on the search committee webpage and completing the fillable form. Individuals may nominate others or nominate themselves through the process. Those already nominated during the first opportunity do not need to be re-nominated at this time.
In the midst of this new nomination period, the search committee “will not pause [its] work but will continue to pray and process those who have previously been nominated.”
