NASHVILLE (BP) – Lifeway Christian Resources announced the appointment of Kim Massey as its new chief marketing officer.

[2]“Kim brings a wealth of marketing expertise that will be invaluable to Lifeway in this new season of ministry and as we continue to lift up our new brand,” said Lifeway President and CEO Ben Mandrell. “Her proven experience in designing successful digital strategies and in global leadership will be a huge asset to Lifeway.”

As Lifeway’s first chief marketing officer, Massey is responsible for the strategic direction, development and execution of Lifeway’s brand and marketing strategy. She will partner with other executive leaders to influence sales and e-commerce strategies and to improve the customer journey experience.

Mandrell said the new CMO role is critical to Lifeway’s strategic focus as the organization leans into the e-commerce space and looks to reach new customers.

“Kim brings both creative and strategic marketing acumen to this role, he said.”

Massey has more than 13 years of experience with Fortune 500 companies. She began her career with Citigroup as a sales trader and later transitioned to PepsiCo, eventually serving on the PepsiCo CMO Council. She comes to Lifeway from Kimberly-Clark in Atlanta where she served in global Bath Tissue and Skincare roles.

Massey has a Bachelor of Arts in economics with a minor in management and organization. She graduated with honors from Spelman College in Atlanta. A native Nashvillian, Massey is a graduate of The Harpeth Hall School and an alumna of Nashville’s Youth About Business organization, where she currently serves on the advisory board.

“I am honored and humbled to serve as the first CMO of Lifeway, a household name I grew up with,” Massey said. “I believe in Ben Mandrell, the leadership team, and our ability to unlock and deliver on our customer needs. I could not be joining at a better time. Lifeway is primed for growth, and I’m thrilled to be an integral part of this historic transformation.”

Lifeway’s board of trustees confirmed Massey during a meeting Monday (Aug. 23).

“Kim has a proven track record as a strong and collaborative leader. I’m excited to have her join our team,” Mandrell said. “Her heart for serving the local church combined with her skill set and experience make Kim uniquely suited to build Lifeway’s brand and expand our reach as we seek to fuel local church ministry.”

Patterson poised to leave ERLC for executive pastor position

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (BP) – Daniel Patterson, acting president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, could be headed to Central Baptist Church in an administrative role in the coming weeks. Patterson made the announcement Sunday (Aug. 22) on Twitter [4].

“The thought of getting to be a part of the rich legacy of this faithful church is really exciting,” Patterson tweeted.

Central’s pastor, Phillip Bethancourt, previously served as executive vice president of the ERLC. Patterson served in a variety of roles at the entity, including following Bethancourt as executive vice president when Bethancourt left in April 2020 to become pastor at Central.

The two served under former ERLC President Russell Moore. Patterson has served as interim president since Moore’s departure in May [5].

Regarding his time at the ERLC, Patterson said, “serving at this institution has been an honor beyond description, as has been the assignment to speak to issues of such great consequence.”

Patterson, a two-time graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, was unanimously invited as a candidate for the open executive pastor position at Central and will go in view of a call in the coming weeks. He and his wife Molly have two daughters, Emma and Claire, and one son, Seth.
