Shuttle service, parking & food options updated for Southern Baptist meeting

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (BP)–An update on shuttle service and parking information has been issued for the upcoming Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting, June 23-24 in the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville.

One of the shuttle routes has been consolidated, convention manager R. Clark Logan Jr. has announced.

Logan, vice president for business and finance with the SBC Executive Committee, noted that shuttle service for the annual meeting is still scheduled for all specifically named hotels in 2 areas: KFEC/Airport Hotels and Downtown Hotels.

However, shuttle service has been consolidated for the Hurstbourne Area Hotels “due to low registration in several hotels and in an effort to be the best stewards of resources,” Logan said, noting that four hotels will receive service instead of the original eight. Specifically, shuttle service will be provided for guests at the Courtyard by Marriott East, Drury Inn & Suites, Holiday Inn Hurstbourne and Baymont Inn & Suites.

Messengers who have a reservation at one of the other Hurstbourne Area Hotels (Hyatt Place Louisville, Louisville Marriott East, Best Western Inn & Suites and The Chariot Hotel) will receive an e-mail from the SBC housing bureau regarding the shuttle consolidation. Instructions will be provided for contacting SBC housing coordinator Lynn Richmond if modifications to reservations are needed to move to a hotel where shuttle service will be offered.

Shuttle service will begin Sunday, June 21, at 3 p.m. and is complimentary from the hotels to the Kentucky Exposition Center on Sunday and Monday. Once at the center, shuttle passes can be purchased for $10 in the Shuttle Booth located in the main lobby. Booth hours will be 3-9 p.m. on Sunday, 8-5:30 p.m. on Monday and 8-noon on Tuesday.

Concerning parking at the exposition center site, Logan noted:

“Attendees driving to the convention site will find that there is adequate parking available in all lots surrounding the North and South Halls. Attendees will also want to take advantage of Parking lot E-1 and use the adjacent Skywalk, which provides a short-cut directly to the main lobby area.

“The cost per vehicle to enter the KFEC parking lot is $6 per visit. Arrangements have been made for special parking passes with in/out privileges to be sold in the convention lobby. To purchase a parking pass, attendees will need to bring the receipt card received at the toll gate upon their initial entry to the facility to the Parking Pass booth in the lobby. Booth hours will be 3-9 p.m. on Sunday, 8-5:30 p.m. on Monday and 8-noon on Tuesday.

“The cost of the passes will be as follows (if an attendee does not have a receipt card, please add $6 to the rates):

“4-day pass sold on Sunday $30 with receipt card

“3-day pass sold on Monday $21 with receipt card

“2-day pass sold on Tuesday $12 with receipt card”

FOOD SERVICE

Concerning the expanded food options during the SBC annual meeting, Logan noted: “There are no restaurants within walking distance of the exposition center and very few restaurants within a short drive. Therefore, we have made arrangements to have a variety of on-site food services and ample seating available each day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

“Please plan to take advantage of the convenience of dining with family and friends in the main lobby or within the Exhibit Hall without having to leave the property.”
