Slain worker Karen Watson ‘had one speed — 100 mph’

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (BP)–Baptist worker Karen Watson was remembered March 24 in a funeral service marked by “tears, memories and even laughter,” as described by The Bakersfield Californian.

Watson, one of four Baptist aid workers killed in Iraq in mid-March, was honored by hundreds of people who gathered at her home church, Valley Baptist in Bakersfield, Calif.

Kevin Wright, a former co-worker in the Kern County Sheriff’s Department where she had worked before entering Baptist work, said Watson “had one speed -– 100 mph.” More than 50 uniformed officers were in attendance at the funeral.

A full story about Watson’s funeral will appear in Baptist Press tomorrow.
