Slain workers’ memorial services slated in Colo., Calif. & N.C.

RICHMOND, Va. (BP)—David McDonnall’s memorial service will be held first, followed by Karen Watson’s and Larry and Jean Elliott’s.

The four Baptist aid workers will be honored for their sacrifice in Iraq March 15 when they were gunned down in a drive-by ambush in the northern city of Mosul.

According to information released March 18 by the Southern Baptist International Mission Board:

David McDonnall’s memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 20, in Lamar, Colo., at First Baptist Church, 1600 S. Main St.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family has asked that donations be sent to First Baptist Church. Funds will be used for Horn Creek Camp and Conference Center in Westcliffe, Colo; Bibles for northern Africa; and work in Iraq. Checks payable to First Baptist Church can be mailed to First Baptist Church, 1600 S. Main, Lamar, CO 81052.

Karen Watson’s memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, in Bakersfield, Calif., at Valley Baptist Church, 4800 Fruitvale Ave.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, Watson’s family has asked that donations be made to further the work she loved so much via the Karen Watson Mission Fund to assist people in short-term mission projects. Checks payable to Valley Baptist Church and designated for the Karen Watson Mission Fund can be mailed to Valley Baptist Church, 4800 Fruitvale Ave., Bakersfield, CA 93308.

Larry and Jean Elliott’s memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 25, in Cary, N.C., at First Baptist Church, 218 S. Academy.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests financial gifts in their memory, designated for “missionary support” for ongoing mission work, be sent to International Mission Board, P.O. Box 6767, Richmond, VA 23230.
