FRANKLIN, Tenn. (BP)–Thousands of Christian leaders from across the nation are expected to participate in the 2001 Willow Creek Leadership Summit, Aug. 9-11, a unique leadership event to be broadcast via satellite from the Willow Creek Community Church’s South Barrington, Ill., facility to 18 cities.

Two Southern Baptist churches, The People’s Church in Franklin, Tenn., and Lake Pointe Baptist Church near Dallas, are among satellite locations for the summit.

Willow Creek, one of the nation’s most recognized mega-churches, plans to establish satellite locations where worshipers will watch the service from the main location in South Barrington, Ill., via huge video screens.

Last year, more than 10,000 men and women from 21 countries and 65 denominations took part in the leadership event, organizers said.

Among the speakers are Charles Colson, founder of Prison Fellowship; Bill Hybels, senior pastor of Willow Creek; Benjamin Zander, conductor of the Boston Philharmonic; Warren Bennis, founding chairman of The Leadership Institute at the University of Southern California; and Richard Stearns, president of World Vision.

Additional information about the conference can be found at The People’s Church website, www.thepeopleschurch.org. The People’s Church is also known as First Baptist Church, Franklin, Tenn.
