NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–Rebecca St. James, who has been named the National Day of Prayer’s musical ambassador, has recorded a theme song, “America, Honor God,” for this year’s May 4 observance.

The song can be downloaded at the National Day of Prayer website, nationaldayofprayer.org, and a video of the song can be viewed there.

St. James also will host a television show, titled “Freedom,” to be distributed to Christian television outlets to encourage teens to pray for the nation.

The Christian band Barlow Girl will join St. James on the broadcast while various segments will include teens’ thoughts on prayer and other multimedia elements. St. James is a member of The Peoples Church, a Southern Baptist congregation in Franklin, Tenn.

The National Day of Prayer theme song, written by 23-year-old Atlanta resident Phil Laeger, was selected from a national song search last year. A second NDOP song search will be launched this summer.

Henry Blackaby, author of the “Experiencing God” discipleship resources, is this year’s National Day of Prayer honorary chairman. A devotional series by Blackaby, a Southern Baptist speaker and author, can be accessed through the NDOP website. Shirley Dobson, wife of James Dobson, continues as the national chairperson.
