PENSACOLA, Fla. (BP)–On the first day of the Florida Baptist Convention’s two-day annual meeting in Pensacola, the Florida Baptist Witness debuted not only a new design but also an online edition.

Each week all of the regularly published Witness’ content will be available at the paper’s www.FloridaBaptistWitness.com [2] website.

“This is an important step forward in the ministry of the Florida Baptist Witness,” said James A. Smith Sr., executive editor. “Our readers have asked for this and we are happy to be able to deliver a resource that will further the effectiveness of our publication.”

The Witness regularly includes Florida and national news, features, editorials, commentaries, classified ads and Bible study commentaries. The website will also offer special reporting on a wide range of topics, user-friendly tabs, a search option and direct links to related sites. “In the coming months we expect to offer information on our website that cannot be accommodated in the print edition,” Smith added.

Published since 1884, the Witness’ print edition features tabloid-sized full-color pages in an easy-to-read style. It has had a nominal Internet presence through the Florida Baptist Convention website, but will expand with its new service.

“Although targeted to our Florida readers, we believe the website and print edition offer unique news and reflection that is of interest to those beyond the Sunshine State,” Smith said. “We invite all Southern Baptists to check out FloridaBaptistWitness.com.
