Story of N.Y. ministry among 12 new B&H books

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–“A Church Called Graffiti,” a book about an Ivy league graduate finding his purpose among the homeless of New York City, is among Broadman & Holman Publishers 12 releases this September.

B&H is the trade publishing division of LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Non-fiction:

— “A Church Called Graffiti” by Taylor Field and Jo Kadlecek. Inner-city minister Taylor Field tells a story about moving his family to the Lower East Side of New York City to spread the message of Christ to a colorful cast of characters and ultimately to start a church among them.

— “FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions About the Christian Life” by Ray Pritchard answers questions Christians most frequently ask. From questions about theology to questions about the Bible, religious doctrine and current controversial issues, Pritchard provides answers to new believers, young and old, or church members needing a refresher course in the Christian faith.

— “God: More Than Just a Name” by Cecil Murphey is a reference book that answers questions about the Bible, about who God is and about Christianity. Using a humorous touch, he allows the Bible to speak for itself about God.

— “The Healthy Marriage Handbook” compiled from the editors of Marriage Partnership magazine contains the answers to more than 200 confidential, personal questions about marriage. Contributors include David and Claudia Arp, Charles Swindoll, Clifford and Joyce Penner, John Trent, Philip Yancey and Ron Blue.

— “How Great Our Joy” is a four-color Christmas gift book based on the The Holman Christian Standard Bible that contains essays, poetry and family reflections of authors Ray and Anne Ortlund.

— “In Search of the Lost Mountains of Noah: The Discovery of the Real Mt. Ararat” by Bob Cornuke and David Halbrook. Questioning the location of the ruins of Noah’s Ark, the authors write about Cornuke’s journey to find the biblical mountains of Ararat.

— “Starting Today” is the newest book in the One Minute Bible Series containing daily inspirational messages Nashville pastor Rubel Shelly sends by e-mail to 80,000 subscribers.

— “The Wonder of it All” is a coast-to-coast travelogue of American scenes. With devotional material written by Adrian Rogers, pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church in suburban Memphis, Tenn., and photography by Tom Fox, this coffee table book is both beautiful and inspiring.

Fiction:

— “Sea of Glory” by Ken Wales and David Poling is a historical novel about four military chaplains aboard a U.S. Army Transport ship who gave up their life jackets so others could live after a German submarine torpedoed the boat.

— “Elijah, Esther, John and Paul,” four titles finishing up the Little Children’s Bible Books, were written by Anne de Graaf and illustrated by Jose Perez Montero. Through age-appropriate text and artwork, the colorful books introduce young readers to characters and stories of the Bible.
