‘The Love Dare’ still a bestseller

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP) — “The Love Dare,” a devotional book for couples based on biblical themes from the movie “Fireproof,” continues to be a bestseller three years after the film opened.

According to Pubtrack Christian data from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA), “The Love Dare” is on the general weekly bestsellers list for sales ending Nov. 12, 2011.

The Love Dare topped The New York Times best-seller list in the advice paperback category in 2008 after it was featured in “Fireproof,” a film by Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Ga. “Fireproof” grossed more than $33 million. Amazingly, it was still on the Times’ list on Nov. 27 of this year at No. 13.

Written by brothers Alex and Stephen Kendrick with Lawrence Kimbrough, The Love Dare challenges couples to embark on a 40-day journey to reshape their marriage relationship. Couples read a short devotional and complete a complementing challenge, or dare, based on that day’s Scripture. (The first chapter’s dare: “Resolve to demonstrate patience and to say nothing negative to your spouse at all.”)

With 3 million of copies in print, The Love Dare also is available in Spanish. LifeWay Christian Resources also released a Love Dare Bible Study for small groups.

B&H Publishing Group’s “The Resolution for Men” by Randy Alcorn and the Kendrick brothers, based on the currently showing “Courageous” from Sherwood Baptist, along with Priscilla Shirer’s “The Resolution for Women” also are in the ECPA general Top 20 list. “Courageous Living” by Michael Catt, Sherwood’s pastor, remains in the top 50.

B&H Publishing Group is the trade books division of LifeWay Christian Resources.
