Vacation Bible School theme is ‘Truth Trackers’ in 2001

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–Pack your bags and get ready to come along on the adventure of a lifetime!

LifeWay Christian Resources’ 2001 Vacation Bible School, “Truth Trackers and the Secret of the Stone Tablets,” is an action adventure taking VBS participants through the deserts of Egypt and the Middle East on an archaeological expedition in search of the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments.

Rob Sanders, biblical studies specialist in the children’s VBS-ventures section of LifeWay’s Sunday school group, announced the theme Aug. 25 during an employee chapel service.

In setting the theme for each year’s VBS, he said a “think tank” composed of people from churches, state conventions and associations get together and shape the idea. It is then further developed by LifeWay editors.

VBS materials are designed for preschoolers, children, youth and adults.

Sanders said VBS is designed with a twofold purpose: teaching preschoolers, children, youth and adults who attend church new Bible truths, and reaching non-Christians with the good news of Jesus.

Sanders said the 2001 VBS website is www.lifeway.com/yourvbs and gives browsers access to information, resources and tips about Truth Trackers.

Features include electronic postcards, an online catalog, product updates and idea banks.

“We will be adding things to the website as we go,” Sanders said. “It will keep growing.”

The 2001 VBS materials will be available Dec. 1. They may be purchased at LifeWay Christian Stores, from the VBS website or through LifeWay customer service at 1-800-458-2772.
