Volunteers needed to teach English for China project

[1]

RICHMOND (BP)–Fifty English teachers are needed urgently this summer to teach middle school instructors throughout China. The eight-week program is sponsored by the Volunteers in Missions department of the Southern Baptist International Mission Board.
The project will begin June 25 with a one-week orientation in Los Angeles. Teachers will depart Los Angeles July 2 for locations in China. Following a seven-week teaching experience, the teachers will return to Los Angeles Aug. 18 for a one-day debriefing.
“The International Mission Board will be cooperating with a highly experienced and reputable English-as-a-Second-Language organization in deploying capable teachers throughout China,” said Bob McEachern, associate director for the board’s Asia and Pacific volunteer section.
“Teachers will have the priceless opportunity of learning about the Chinese culture even as they share Christianity through lifestyle witness.”
Southern Baptists interested in the China project should call the International Mission Board at 1-800-999-3113, then press 8. At the end of the recorded message, leave the information requested: name, address, zip code, telephone number and, if available, e-mail address. The board will forward this information to the English-as-a-Second-Language organization, which will provide information needed to make a final decision.
