WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (BP)–The Kansas Jayhawk’s Roy Williams had his share of headlines in North Carolina five months ago. His team’s 31-point loss to the No. 11 Wake Forest Demon Deacons will get some more.

Meanwhile, the National Basketball Association has dunking sensation Vince Carter. College basketball boasts coaching legend Mike Krzyzewski. But the Upward Basketball League lays claim to a far greater presence on the basketball court — 120,000 girls and boys learning about Jesus and jump shots.

Plus, University of Richmond sophomore guard Reggie Brown delivered a game-high and career-best 27 points to lead the Spiders to a 76-52 victory over Old Dominion in both teams’ Colonial Athletic Association season opener Thursday night at the Robins Center.
