Wake prepares to take on Temple; Baylor women get 9th straight win

[1]

PHILADELPHIA (BP)–If the Demon Deacons claim victory tonight over Temple, they will have their best start since the Tim Duncan era. “They beat Kansas into the ground,” Temple coach John Chaney told the Sporting News.

“(Wake coach Dave) Odom looks like he has winner this year.” A win would put Wake Forest at 10-0 for the first time since going 13-0 during the 1996-97 season.

Meanwhile, the Baylor University women’s basketball team tied the best start in program history with its ninth straight win to open the season as the Lady Bears muscled their way past USC Wednesday night in front of the largest crowd of the season at the Ferrell Center, 79-55.
