Ways to befriend internationals include sponsoring a family, teaching English


RICHMOND, Va. (BP)–Here are some ways to minister to internationals entering your community:
— Sponsor a refugee family. For information, call the North American Mission Board’s refugee resettlement office at (770) 410-6353.
— Teach English as a second language to internationals.
— Begin a Bible study for internationals.
— Call the Baptist Student Union, campus minister or international student office at colleges near you to discover existing programs for students from abroad.
— Check with area businesses, military bases, medical centers and foreign consulates to locate internationals working or training in your community.
— Become a “friendship family” to an international, keeping in touch regularly by telephone and including him or her in a family activity at least once a month.
