BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (BP)—Woman’s Missionary Union now offers print-on-demand Bible studies to help small groups in churches increase in biblical and missional understanding of their responsibility and opportunities for sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
These Bible studies are offered for all age levels as part of WMU’s new Generation M (M for missions) brand of online products. Generation M products can be easily purchased and instantly downloaded from the WMU online store, www.wmustore.com.
Among the Generation M products is a 52-week Bible study based on the Book of Acts. Intended to spark discussion and understanding about present-day missions and missions involvement, the “Christ Followers” series provides an undated lesson plan to be used by small study groups any time of year. The intergenerational series includes four units of 13 sessions designed for the educational needs of preschoolers, children, students/youth and adults.
“Christ Followers is general and timeless, making it applicable to all Baptists and other Christians who want to grow in their understanding of God’s call on their lives,” WMU Executive Director Wanda S. Lee said. “The series features stories from missionaries [centering on] missions involvement for individuals by offering relevant ideas for ministry in today’s world.
“With Christ Followers, all ages — grandparents, parents and children — will study and learn from the same Scripture references each week, making intergenerational activities a part of everyday life,” Lee added.
Though it includes appropriate Old Testament Scriptures, Christ Followers emphasizes New Testament Scriptures that reinforce Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (NIV).
Based on this Scripture, Christ Followers explores reaching out in Christ to different geographic locations and people groups in one’s own community (Acts 1:8’s Jerusalem); beyond one’s community (Judea); one’s country (Samaria); and all nations/all peoples (the ends of the earth).
“Christ Followers provides answers to the what, why, who and how questions of a missional lifestyle through a biblical foundation and 21st-century examples,” said Barbara Wigger, women’s ministries director for the General Association of General Baptists based in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Christ Followers units are priced at $9.99 each (13 sessions per unit). Once purchased and downloaded to a personal computer, the user can make as many copies as needed for his or her study group. Other Generation M products include MissionsQuest, the individual achievement plan for Acteens, the WMU missions organization for teenage girls in grades seven through 12.
“Beginnings,” another print-on-demand Bible study, uses an inductive approach to Bible study for small groups in homes or apartment ministries. With Beginnings, participants will study 13 sessions on God’s promises, then move on to the Books of Mark, Romans and Philippians.
