[1]NASHVILLE (BP) – Cooperative Program giving for April was below the budget goal for the month and total giving remains about 3.5 percent under budget for the year. However, in actual dollars, year-to-date giving ($110,336,543,27) is almost identical to the amount given through April of last year ($110,474,314.95) – a difference of .12 percent.
Designated giving of almost $15 million in April was quite a bit higher than last April’s $12.3 million, but year-to-date designated giving is also remarkably similar to last year’s total at this point.
April National Cooperative Program giving:
- Monthly budgeted amount: $15,960,000.00
- April 2026 giving: $15,180,095.98
- Above/below budget: $779,904.02 (4.89 percent) below budget
Total National Cooperative Program giving:
- Year-to-date budgeted amount: $114,380,000.00
- Year to date giving: $110,336,543.27
- Above/under budget: $4,043,456.73 (3.54 percent) below budget
Designated giving:
- April giving: $14,989,594.61
- Year to date giving: $130,856,352.61
- Previous year to date total: $130,841,050.27
- Above/below previous year: $15,302.34 (.01 percent) above the previous year (Editor’s note: An earlier version mistakenly said “below” last year.)
The Convention-adopted budget for 2025-2026 is $190,000,000 which includes a $3,000,000 special priority allocation for SBC legal expenses.
Cooperative Program funds are then disbursed as follows:
- 50.41 percent to international missions through the International Mission Board
- 22.79 percent to North American missions through the North American Mission Board
- 22.16 percent to theological education through the six SBC seminaries and the Southern Baptist Historical Library and Archives
- 2.99 percent to the SBC operating budget
- 1.65 percent to the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission.
If national CP gifts exceed the budget projection at the end of the fiscal year, the balance of the overage is distributed according to the percentages approved for budgetary distribution. The SBC Executive Committee distributes all CP and designated gifts it receives on a weekly basis to the SBC ministry entities.
