75 Years Serving Southern Baptists

LifeWay Christian Stores — the retail arm of LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention — has reached a major milestone: 75 years of service to SBC constituents through its various retail locations and channels, all beginning with one small store in Louisville, Kentucky three-quarters of a century ago.

More than twenty Christian artists joined with LifeWay in praising God for providing LifeWay Christian Stores with seventy-five years of opportunity to serve Him through Christ-centered resources and service. Speaking on behalf of all Christian artists, Michael W. Smith, 4Him, Jennifer Knapp, and Phillips, Craig & Dean also expressed, through words and music, their genuine appreciation to LifeWay for their partnership in ministry to win this generation for Jesus.

Between choruses of corporate praise and worship led by Christian artists, LifeWay employees reminisced about those whom God has used through the pages of LifeWay Christian Stores' history. They considered how things have changed within the organization over seventy-five years. And they acknowledged that the most important things have remained the same: LifeWay trusts that, as God works through them, they can help people and churches know Jesus Christ and seek His kingdom by providing biblical solutions that spiritually transform individuals and cultures.

He Is Giving Me Life!

Nearly two decades ago, Robyn Bowen refused when a doctor said she needed an abortion to save her life. Her nineteen-year-old son was scheduled to give her a kidney in May, along with a chance to keep living.

Bowen was three months pregnant when a doctor at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., warned that her unborn baby would drain important nutrients and put a strain on her failing kidneys. She refused, and almost six months later, after twelve hours of induced labor, Bowen delivered a healthy baby, Brandon Clute, three weeks early.

"We are going back to the same place that told us he would kill me and now he is giving me life again," said Bowen.

Interfaith Alert!

The Student Evangelism Team of the North American Mission Board reports that the Christian Science Church is apparently sending free copies of Mary Baker Eddy's book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures to Christian youth ministers around the country along with a cover letter inviting them and their students to visit a new Christian Science youth-oriented Web site. The web page address is www.spirituality.com.

Please inform your constituency that Christian Science is an unbiblical cult and warn them not to recommend the Web site to their youth.
