[1]FORT WORTH, Texas (BP) — R. Clark Logan Jr., a veteran denominational leader with experience at multiple Southern Baptist Convention entities, has been named vice president for business administration at The Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. The decision came during a Feb. 19 meeting of the seminary’s executive committee of the board of trustees. Logan will begin in this position immediately.
“God has shown favor once again to Southwestern Seminary in leading us to Clark Logan to serve as our vice president for business administration,” said president Adam W. Greenway. “Clark is a devoted Christian, committed churchman, experienced denominational servant, competent administrator and man of integrity. He is just the right person we need at this crucial moment in the life of our seminary to ensure the most effective stewardship of institutional resources as we strive to provide the best and most faithful theological education possible for God-called men and women to serve the churches of the Southern Baptist Convention.”
“I look forward to welcoming Clark, his wife Helen, and all the Logan family to their new home on Seminary Hill,” Greenway said.
As vice president for business administration, Logan will serve as the chief financial officer of the seminary, directly overseeing matters related to budget and finance, endowment and investment, audit and compliance, facilities and operations, and human resources.
Philip Levant, chairman of the board of trustees, said the vote to approve Greenway’s recommendation that Clark serve on staff at Southwestern Seminary was unanimous.
“His stellar ministry track record, personal integrity and drive leave no doubt he is the right man for job,” Levant said. “We are very excited about his coming ‘home to the dome’ and look forward to working closely with him.”
[2]Logan comes to the seminary after nine years with the North American Mission Board (NAMB), most recently as its chief research officer. His other denominational experience includes seven years at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, two years with the SBC Executive Committee and one year as a contractor for LifeWay Christian Resources. Logan also has experience as an agent and computer analyst for State Farm Insurance, and as a basketball coach for Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss.
Kevin Ezell, president of NAMB, said, “We love Clark and his family, and I know he will make an outstanding contribution to the Southwestern team just as he has at NAMB for almost 10 years. I am incredibly excited about the future of Southwestern under the leadership of Adam Greenway and Randy Stinson. I know there are great years ahead.”
Logan earned both his bachelor and master of business administration degrees at Delta State University (1988, 1990) and his Master of Divinity from Southern Seminary (2001). He was ordained for Gospel ministry at Highview Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky., in 2005, and his pastoral experience includes service as a deacon, youth minister and assistant pastor of adult ministries.
Logan said it is “an honor and privilege to be asked to joined the Southwestern Seminary administration. I’m humbled by the opportunity and excited to be able to play a role in helping our seminary educate ministers of the Gospel in service to our Savior.”
Logan is married to Helen, and they have three children, Trey, Tyler, and Wilson.
