Lysa TerKeurst will divorce husband after failed reconciliation

By BP Staff

Prolific women’s ministry speaker and writer Lysa TerKeurst will divorce her husband of 29 years, she announced over the weekend.

TerKeurst, president of Proverbs 31 Ministries, and her husband separated in 2017 but reconciled and renewed [2] their marriage vows the following year.

“Over the past several years, I have fought really hard to not just save my marriage, but to survive the devastation of what consistent deception of one spouse does to the other,” TerKeurst posted for her more than 1.5 million Facebook followers Saturday (Jan. 1). “It’s brutal and heart crushing to constantly fear the hurtful choices of someone you love. I’ve had to learn the hard way there’s a big difference between mistakes (which we all make) and chosen patterns of behavior that dishonor God and the biblical covenant of marriage.”

TerKeurst went on to say that there was “biblical justification” for her decision to end the marriage and that doing so was merely to “accept reality.”

“I don’t understand why circumstances sometimes go the way my story is now going,” she wrote. “But I’m standing firm in my faith and trusting God with every step. My family and I treasure your prayers and your compassion.”

Big Daddy Weave founding member dies from COVID-19

Jay Weaver, bass player and vocalist for Christian band Big Daddy Weave, died Sunday (Jan. 2) from complications of COVID-19.

Weaver’s brother Mike, the band’s front man, announced the death [4] on social media, saying that anyone who met Jay while the band toured around the country, “knows how real his faith in Jesus was.”

Formed in 1998 while the members were students at the Baptist-affiliated University of Mobile, Big Daddy Weave has released nine albums and won several awards, including a Dove Award and two K-Love fan awards. The songs “Redeemed” and “The Lion and the Lamb” are among their hits.

Jay Weaver had experienced a series of health problems in recent years, including having both feet amputated in 2016 following an infection and a hospitalization last summer after complications from dialysis, CBN News reported.

“Even though COVID may have taken his last breath, I know Jesus was right there to catch him,” Mike Weaver said.
