WMU’s Children’s Missions Day set for Sept. 16

By Christian Index and WMU Staff

The National Woman’s Missionary Union is inviting kids across the country to get involved in hands-on ministry in their communities through Children’s Missions Day on Sept. 16.

The designated day is geared toward children in grades one through six.

WMU launched Children’s Missions Day in 2008 to move children out of their churches and into their communities to do missions.

The goal is for children’s groups to create projects that meet needs in their own communities. From feeding hungry people to visiting shut-ins, boys and girls follow God’s command to “put your love into action.”

Thousands of people have already taken part in this special day.

Here’s what WMU leaders say about the ministry emphasis:

Hispanic Missions Sunday set for Sept. 17

By IMB Staff

With more than 3,368 Southern Baptist Hispanic congregations in the U.S., Hispanic Americans are making a mark on the mission field. Historically, Hispanic countries have been considered a mission field, but now Hispanics are becoming a steadfast missionary force all over the world.

We invite Southern Baptists to celebrate Hispanic Missions Sunday on Sept. 17. It’s a Sunday set aside to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of Hispanic International Mission Board missionaries and Hispanic churches as active partners with the IMB. As our nation recognizes Hispanic Heritage Month, Southern Baptist churches are invited to celebrate and pray for what God is doing through Hispanic churches.

Downloadable resources are available here [6].

We praise God for Hispanic churches sending missionaries to the nations via short-term mission trips and for Hispanic IMB missionaries, many of whom serve among people groups who are hard to reach with the Gospel.
