Myanmar believers host Christmas events to share the Gospel

SOUTH THAILAND (BP) -- This month, Myanmar believers in South Thailand are hard at work. They are few in number compared to many churches, but their dedication to share the Gospel story this season is unwavering. Three small churches, planted to reach factory workers, band together in December to share the Christmas story through music, drama, food and fellowship. This will be their third year to produce the outreach events.

Short-term missions leads to long-term commitment

RICHMOND, Va. (BP) -- life changes they are facing. They discuss holiday plans, an upcoming family wedding and the Sundays that they will have left with their home church. The weeks ahead will inevitably go by quickly. The mild Southern winters of their upbringing will be exchanged for the bitter cold of Eastern Europe in January.

Church gets creative with ‘Lattes for Lottie’

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (BP) -- If you're heading to Mount Harmony Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tenn., you don't need to stop at a fancy coffee shop on your way to church. Multi-flavored coffees and lattes will be ready for you when you arrive, served by smiling baristas. Donations at the coffee counter raise money for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, but also raise awareness about the offering's namesake. "I didn't just want it to be a table with people coming up to give money and get a latte," says Emily Sheddan, who started "Lattes for Lottie" in her church in 2017. "It was on my heart to get them involved and really know who Lottie was."

Missions ideas flow from Diana Davis & Autumn Wall

PENSACOLA, Fla. (BP) -- Long before most people were aware of Diana Davis' "fresh ideas," her daughter witnessed her mom's imagination and creative spark. "Her creativity is what has always made life in our family so much fun!" Autumn Wall said, recalling how her mother was always starting something new or turning an ordinary day into something adventuresome. "For our family, she constantly used her creative ideas to help us understand that serving God is an adventure," Autumn said via email.
