5/29/97 HMB photo director Sandlin joining Southern Living staff


ALPHARETTA, Ga. (BP)–R. Mark Sandlin, director of Southern Baptist Home Mission Board’s photography department, will join the photography staff of Southern Living magazine July 1.
Sandlin joined the HMB staff in 1980 as manager of photographic services and assumed the role of photo department director in 1981. He was a photojournalist at the Baptist Sunday School Board, Nashville, Tenn., from 1978-80.
Sandlin is a six-time winner of the top photography award in an annual competition sponsored by the Baptist Communications Association, formerly the Baptist Public Relations Association. His work also has been honored by the National Press Photographers Association and the American Society of Media Photographers.
Sandlin is a native of Portales, N.M., and 1977 graduate of the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Terry, have three children.
