CLOVIS, N.M. (BP)--More people attended events related to the Baptist Convention of New Mexico’s annual meeting Oct. 24-25 in Clovis, estimates indicate, than any year since the state convention was founded 94 years ago.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (BP)--Messengers to a special meeting of the Baptist Convention of New Mexico Jan. 31 elected Joseph L. Bunce as the BCNM’s new executive director. Bunce reported for duty the next day.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (BP)--Many observers, myself included, were surprised when New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson announced recently that he wanted our state legislature to legalize the use of “medical marijuana,” during this year’s short, 30-day legislative session which ends Feb. 16. And I was very disappointed when I heard that a medical marijuana bill passed the New Mexico Senate Jan. 31 by a vote of 34-6.
