RICHMOND, Va. (BP) -- When Rachel Emerson* arrived at a university in Europe as a Journeyman, the task of sharing the Gospel among so many who'd never heard of Jesus overwhelmed the Georgia native. "I thought, 'God, I am just one girl. What can one girl do?'" she recalled during her appointment as an International Mission Board missionary on Tuesday (May 10). "I watched as God moved in the hearts of students, teachers, administrators and families. I learned that it did not matter what one girl can do, it mattered what our God can do."
‘Limitless opportunities’ to highlight IMB message at SBC

The event, which kicked off the church’s Global Impact Conference, brings the total number of IMB missionaries to more than 5,100. Many of the new appointees experienced a call to international missions during similar church-related activities or on volunteer mission trips. “When I boarded a plane returning from a short-term mission trip, my heart broke, I didn’t want to leave, and I realized [I had a] heart for missions,” said one new missionary who will serve in the Pacific Rim region. “I’ve found no greater joy than sharing the name of Jesus with someone who has never heard."
Ninety-five new IMB missionaries exemplify God’s worldwide call
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (BP)--Ninety-five Southern Baptists were appointed as International Mission Board missionaries during a May 23 service at Hoffmantown Church in Albuquerque, N.M. The service was part of an IMB trustee meeting also held in Albuquerque, May 22-24.
45 ‘ordinary’ people answer God’s call as new missionaries
The service culminated an IMB trustee meeting conducted in Tampa -- and kicked off an international missions summit focusing on West Africa held at the Idlewild church.
“I was just a regular guy living my life for myself,” said one new missionary who will serve in the Last Frontier -- that part of the world with little or no access to the Gospel. “But then God saved me, changed my heart, and He showed me there was more to being a Christian than just going to church on Sunday.
