LifeWay Global serving churches in 163 countries

NASHVILLE (BP) -- LifeWay Christian Resources is rapidly expanding around the world to serve a growing church in need of biblically sound resources, leaders said at its first Global Summit, Feb. 28-March 2. "God is pouring out His Spirit on the nations," said Craig Featherstone, director of LifeWay Global. "LifeWay exists to serve the church in her mission of making disciples. And that promise extends to the ends of the earth. "There's explosive growth in the church internationally, and they don't have access to the resources they need. The gap demands a response."

TRUSTEES: New Bible, building top LifeWay reports

NASHVILLE (BP) -- LifeWay Christian Resources is looking ahead to a newly revised Bible translation and a new corporate headquarters, leaders told trustees this week. At their semiannual meeting Feb. 6-7, trustees received copies of LifeWay's new Christian Standard Bible (CSB), which is online now and will be available at LifeWay Stores and other retail outlets in March.

LifeWay stores plan nationwide Bible study workshop

NASHVILLE (BP) -- LifeWay Christian Stores across the country will host a nationwide Bible study workshop next week to help people better understand Scripture. The Jan. 17 workshop will teach participants how to conduct a devotional Bible study and how to apply the teachings of Scripture to life. "This event is another great example of something customers will find in their local LifeWay Store, where we are striving to walk with them every step of the way," said Nathan Magness, director of marketing strategy.

Raising up church leaders focus of Pipeline conf.

NASHVILLE (BP) -- Church leaders must make critical shifts in focus to prepare leaders for the next generation, speakers told attendees at the inaugural Pipeline conference for church leaders Oct. 13. The event, hosted by LifeWay Christian Resources in Nashville, emphasized the need to build a pipeline of future leaders at every church. Ten speakers addressed issues ranging from vision to stewardship.

Ridgecrest volunteers: ‘We’re like family’

BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (BP) -- It's like family. Those words come up time and again as volunteers describe serving together at LifeWay's Ridgecrest Conference Center in North Carolina. Now Ridgecrest wants to expand that family. With a deeper pool of volunteers, leaders say, the conference center can be more effective in sharing the joy of the Lord. Volunteers are a vital part of the Ridgecrest ministry, executive director Art Snead said. They work in a variety of areas, from carpentry and gardening to food service and hospitality.

Changing genders isn’t morally wrong, Americans say

NASHVILLE (BP) -- Most Americans see nothing morally wrong with gender change, a study released today (July 14) shows. Six in 10 Americans don't think it's wrong for people to identify with a gender different from their birth sex, according to a LifeWay Research survey conducted Sept. 14-28, 2015. And more than half don't think it's wrong to switch genders by taking hormones or having surgery.

Registration open to preview LifeWay’s 2017 VBS

NASHVILLE (BP) -- Registration is open for Vacation Bible School leaders to preview "Galactic Starveyors," the 2017 VBS theme from LifeWay Christian Resources. LifeWay will host preview events in three locations in January to provide leaders hands-on experience with the backyard astronomy theme. "Galactic Starveyors" will prompt kids to look skyward and discover the Creator of the universe, said Rhonda VanCleave, LifeWay's VBS publishing team leader.

LifeWay aims for ‘above and beyond’ customer service

NASHVILLE (BP) -- Every time LifeWay employee Rob Dupree picks up the phone, he's hoping for a chance to pray. Working in LifeWay's customer service department, he views each phone call as a ministry and an opportunity to share God's love. While helping with an order, he may learn about a caller whose sister has cancer or a crisis at work. "I want an opportunity to just speak life into them, to encourage them," Dupree says.

Study: Americans share conflicting views on sports gambling

And as millions nationwide manage their fantasy sports rosters, Americans straddle the fence on whether heavily advertised daily games by companies such as FanDuel Inc. and DraftKings Inc. should be banned.
