ALPHARETTA, Ga. (BP)--Logistical challenges continue to hamper efforts of more than 1,200 Southern Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers assisting people displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
Since Katrina’s devastation is so widespread and affects such a large area of Louisiana and Mississippi, disaster relief operations are being stretched to respond in the same fashion as in past disasters.

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (BP)--As the situation in New Orleans and other areas affected by Hurricane Katrina worsens, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief workers face challenges as they seek to assist people without the most basic needs.
      The number of mobile disaster relief units engaged has swelled to 120, but problems with water and other supplies hampered relief efforts. Feeding units in the field now number 36. Southern Baptist volunteers also are manning two American Red Cross kitchens and two Salvation Army kitchens.

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (BP)--Southern Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers have prepared nearly 30,000 meals for victims of Hurricane Dennis.
      While many disaster relief services are winding down in Alabama and Georgia following Dennis, the American Red Cross has requested that Southern Baptist Disaster Relief officials prepare to deploy mobile kitchens units for Hurricane Emily, which is expected to strike southern Texas next week.

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (BP)--You won’t see the Chimpanzee office workers that were featured in commercials during the Super Bowl, but newly released Week of Prayer promotional video spots also are using humor to illustrate the importance of funding the work of North American missionaries.
Missionaries depicted as life-size “cardboard cut-outs” are featured in five video segments -– produced much like television commercials –- for use by churches during the Week of Prayer for North American Missions, March 6-13, and throughout the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions emphasis.
