BRAVE IN THE BIG LEAGUES: Boyer waits for that special woman

ATLANTA (BP)–As a single man on a major league baseball team, Blaine Boyer of the Atlanta Braves knows about sexual temptation.

“It’s very real,” he said. “It’s not something I enjoy at all. You’ve got to be disciplined. You’ve got to always have your guard up. That’s something we struggle with day in and day out.”

In addition to his desire to live a godly life, one of the motivating factors to Boyer keeping himself pure is the vision of his future wife.

“That is a huge passion of mine -– finally one day meeting the right lady, and being able to settle down and have a family,” Boyer, 24, said. “I’m fired up about that.”

He knows what he’s looking for. He wants a woman with a devoted relationship with Christ. He wants a woman who can stand on her own two feet, who loves to have fun and who is easygoing. He also wants a woman with spunk – someone who isn’t afraid to yell back at him.

Boyer hasn’t found her yet, but he trusts that God’s provision will come when the time is right.

“I’m still looking,” Boyer said. “I know God’s got her out there, and I pray for her all the time, wherever she may be.”
