Churches can get Fireproof license discount

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–Churches that purchase a movie license for the film “Fireproof” between now and the end of March can get a 10 percent discount thanks to a partnership between Outreach, Inc., and the North American Mission Board.

A license is required before a church can legally show the hit movie to their congregation. Licenses can be purchased by calling Outreach at 1-800-991-6011 or by logging on to Outreach.com. To receive the discount, churches will need to ask for the “NAMB discount” when calling, or if purchasing online, by entering coupon code NAMB2009FPJAN. The license is good for a year.

Filmed on a $500,000 budget by Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Ga., Fireproof made $33 million at the box office and opened at No. 2 in DVD sales nationwide according to VideoBusines.com. It was released on DVD more than a month ago but still ranked No. 5 on March 4 in Amazon.com’s chart of all DVD sales.

The movie’s companion book, “The Love Dare,” remained No. 1 on The New York Times’ paperback advice chart Feb. 27.

Sales of the film and book also have been impressive in the Christian market, with the paperback version of The Love Dare ranking No. 1 and the imitation leather version at No. 3 according to the March chart compiled by the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association.

The movie has sparked a marriage movement, with churches holding Bible studies examining marriage in the Bible. LifeWay Church Resources published a Love Dare Bible study curriculum and Outreach published Fireproof Your Marriage curriculum.
