In the BP story, “New Mexico leaders express dismay over Texas pastor’s BGCT comments,” dated 11/2/00, please replace the 6th paragraph with the following:
He specifically referred to changes adopted by the BCNM that requires churches to support the Cooperative Program giving channel of the New Mexico and Southern Baptist conventions in order to participate in the state convention. Lineberger said the change “is a violation of local church autonomy.”
— In the BP story, “Conservatives continue to win Missouri convention elections,” dated 11/03/00, please substitute the following for the 10th paragraph:
“We define ourselves very narrowly,” Jay Scribner, convention president and a Project 1000 supporter, had noted in early October in explaining three criteria for a candidate for an office in the Missouri Baptist Convention endorsed by Project 1000. They should be supportive of the Southern Baptist Convention, not embrace the tenets of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and unequivocally embrace the Bible as God’s Word without any mixture of error.
