Floyd says GCRTF 100% and that GC-driven Southern Baptists will support report

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–The Great Commission Resurgence Task Force voted in agreement April 26 to approve its final report, which will be released to the public May 3 and brought to messengers at the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting June 15.

The task force did not release any information about the report but chairman Ronnie Floyd, pastor of First Baptist Church in Springdale, Ark., said the GCRTF finished its work and “adopted it unanimously.”

“I will look forward to talking with the media after the release of our report on May 3,” Floyd said in an e-mail to state papers, state executive directors and entity heads. “Until then, thank you for your interest in this important work.”

Floyd called the work of the task force “historic” and offered that the 100 percent vote by task force members evidenced a level of excitement “that will take us on to Orlando.”

He said the GCRTF had listened to Southern Baptists and he expected messengers would respond with “enthusiasm and a sense of excitement.”

The report was written so that “Every Great Commission-driven Southern Baptist” will eagerly embrace it, Floyd said.
