Homer Lindsay to be honored at Southwestern alumni luncheon


ORLANDO, Fla. (BP)–Homer G. Lindsay Jr., the longtime pastor of First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Fla., will be honored posthumously as a distinguished alumni of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary at its national alumni luncheon June 14 in Orlando, Fla.

The other graduates who will be honored as distinguished alumni include O.S. Hawkins, Southern Baptist Convention Annuity Board president; Gary R. Cook, president of Dallas Baptist University; Lewis Drummond, evangelism professor from Samford University in Birmingham, Ala.; and Eva Marie Kennard Dyke, a Bible teacher from Temple, Texas, who has worked in student ministries in five states.

In addition to honoring the five distinguished alumni award recipients, Southwestern President Kenneth S. Hemphill will give a progress report about the school.

The luncheon will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Orange County Convention Center, the site of the SBC annual meeting.
