Ministers’ wives seek nominations for ’99 distinguished service award

SALT LAKE CITY (BP)–Nominations for the 1999 presentation of the Southern Baptist Ministers’ Wives’ Mrs. J. M. Dawson Distinguished Service Award are in the process of being collected and evaluated.
The award will be presented June 15, 1999, when ministers’ wives hold their annual luncheon in Atlanta on the first day of the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting.
Established in the 1950s and presented only nine previous times, this award is presented for “distinct denominational contribution beyond the local church” when the executive committee of the Ministers’ Wives Conference feels it is advisable, according to the bylaws of the SBC Ministers’ Wives Conference.
Award recipients are chosen by the group’s executive committee, composed of past presidents, current officers, nominees for office and all committee chairpersons.
Nominations should be sent to Lynda Estep, wife of Wendell Estep, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Columbia, S.C., at P.O. Box 1000, Columbia, SC 29202.
