Social Issues: Anti-Pornography Sunday — August 5, 2001

“I made a covenant … not to look lustfully.” Job 31:1

Pornography turns God’s design for human sexuality on its head. It strips ensnared men of their moral purity and encourages lust that enslaves and destroys.

In the book of the Bible that bears his name, Job offers a defense of his innocence in the midst of an onslaught of maladies. He notes he had made a promise with his eyes to never “look upon a young woman” lustfully (Job 31:1). In his statement of commitment, Job makes the point that those who desire to keep their heart pure must first guard their eyes.
