Thais get training in flood cleanup

GRAPEVINE, Texas (BP) –– The Southern Baptists of Texas Convention has deployed two volunteers to Thailand to train Baptist representatives in the Asian country how to properly and safely clean out a home inundated with floodwater and to apply mold remediation to the cleaned structure.

Since August, Thailand has been inundated with flooding, said to be the worst in a half-century. As of mid-November, the floods had claimed the lives of 370 people and affected more than 2.5 million people across the country.

“This Texas team is arriving at just the right time, when the water recedes and the damage will be most evident,” said Pat Melancon, managing director of disaster response and training for the international relief organization Baptist Global Response.
