
NEW YORK (BP)–Third Day and Jars of Clay topped the contemporary Christian music industry in receiving Grammy awards Feb. 23 in New York City.
Third Day’s “Come Together” received a Grammy for Rock Gospel Album of the year, while Jars of Clay’s “The Eleventh Hour” was honored for Pop-Contemporary Gospel Album.
Other Grammy winners in the gospel field were:
— The Jordanaires, Larry Ford and The Light Crust Doughboys, Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album for “We Called Him Mr. Gospel Music: The James Blackwood Tribute Album.”
— The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Gospel Choir or Chorus Album for “Be Glad.”
— The Blind Boys of Alabama, Traditional Soul Gospel Album for “Higher Ground.”
— Eartha, Contemporary Soul Gospel Album for “Sidebars.”
Johnny Cash was among the country music winners, with “Give My Love To Rose” receiving a Grammy for Male Country Vocal Performance.
